WordPress announced a security release this week that affects WordPress installations that allow Contributor level users to improperly publish posts. If you allow people to register on your WordPress site as Contributors, then this update is for you. A number of other bug fixes were also added to this release. As always it’s recommended that you update to the latest version of WordPress (3.1.2 as of this post) when released.

WordPress 3.1.2 is now available and is a security release for all previous WordPress versions.

This release addresses a vulnerability that allowed Contributor-level users to improperly publish posts.

The issue was discovered by a member of our security team, WordPress developer Andrew Nacin, with Benjamin Balter.

We suggest you update to 3.1.2 promptly, especially if you allow users to register as contributors or if you have untrusted users. This release also fixes a few bugs that missed the boat for version 3.1.1.

Download 3.1.2 or update automatically from the Dashboard → Updates menu in your site’s admin area.

As business owners, we all come to understand that opportunity usually brings change. After several months of prayerful thought and consideration, I have made the decision to devote more of my time to pursuing my dream of being a full time writer and writers’ coach.

I am writing to introduce you to Christopher Spires, who I have chosen to assume hosting and maintenance responsibilities for the web sites that I have been managing.

Christopher is a web developer and designer based out of the North Carolina Piedmont region. As the owner of gotBODA? Solutions, he brings 10 years of web experience to my webb & Flow clients. Starting in 2000, he has gone from building websites for personal clients and small business to enterprise level web applications for Elon University and other national organizations.

He is dedicated to staying up-to-date with current web trends, including open source projects, social media, on-line collaboration tools and the mobile web markets. He has a strong background in PHP/MySQL development as well as HTML/XHTML/CSS design. Chris also has a thorough understanding of search engine optimization.

Chris and I have already worked together on several projects. I am excited about the skills and knowledge, as well as time, he will be able to devote to provide you with the site development you need to market your business.

We will be working as a team during the coming weeks and months to ensure that your business benefits from a smooth transition. In addition, it is our intent to visit you together in the near future so that you can meet Chris in person.
